Creating chamfers

You can transform any corner point in existing geometry into a chamfer.

To create a chamfer:

1. Select the chamfer tool from the Sketch view toolbar or the Draw menu.

2. Select the point at the corner you want to transform into a chamfer.

3. The corner point is transformed into a chamfer, as shown in the example below.

Note that:

• Transforming the corner point into a chamfer results in a new line segment constrained by two equal-length angle dimensions to the connected lines.

• The angles default to 45 degrees (135 from the inside corners), but may be changed if desired. You may also use the CW/CCW and supplementary angle tools in the Properties Explorer, just as for any other angle.

  

• The constraints added for the chamfer do not affect your DOF.

• Any dimensions associated with the corner point, such as the linear dimension on the left in our example, continue to be measured to the corner point.
