About Sketch Text objects
You can add text such as notes and labels to your sketch using the Sketch Text tool from the Sketch view toolbar or the Draw menu.
-
Text may be associated with geometric objects. When you attach text to a geometric object, the text object includes a leader line, which is attached to the center of the selected geometry; e.g., the centerpoint of a circle or arc, or the midpoint of a line. The position where the leader line is attached cannot be changed, but the leader line can be shown or hidden as desired using the Sketch Text shortcut menu.
-
Text does not constraint geometry, and does not have any effect on your model's DOF.
-
Text can be cut/copied and placed on layers in the same manner as geometric objects. By default, text objects are placed on the Text layer.
-
Text is not visible in model instances that are loaded into assemblies. Text is visible only in master models.
-
When you select a text object, its properties display in the Properties Explorer. Properties include modifiable attributes such as layer, color, and so on, as well as Connected Objects, which let you see which object the text is attached to, if any. Text size and font are not modifiable.
-
You can paste clipboard contents into Sketch Text entry, provided the content consists only of text. The text may originate from within Enventive Concept (e.g., an equation or parameter value) or from another program (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.).
-
You can include special characters found on a standard keyboard in Sketch Text entry; however, symbols, such as those in Wingdings, are not recognized by the Sketch Text tool and will be output as question marks (?).
-
You may use spacing and line breaks (using Ctrl + Enter) to format text; however, tabs are not yet fully supported and result in a vertical line appearing at the tab location.
-
You can click and drag text objects to position them as desired. If the text is associated with a geometric object, the leader line (if displayed) will change length and position to adjust to the text location.
