Adding text to a sketch
You can add text to a sketch using the Sketch Text tool; text cannot be typed directly into the sketch or pasted into the sketch from the clipboard.
To add a Sketch Text object to a sketch:
-
Select the Sketch Text tool from the Sketch view toolbar or from the Draw menu.
-
Select a geometric object to attach the text to, or click in an empty area in the sketch. The Sketch Text dialog appears.
-
If you clicked on geometry to place the text, you can toggle options to show/hide the text frame, show/hide the leader line, and move the text with the object, as shown below.
-
If the sketch object is not attached to geometry, you only have the option to show a frame around the text.
-
-
Toggle the text display options as desired (you can change these options later using the Properties Explorer):
- If you want a frame around the text, click the Show Frame checkbox.
- For text attached to geometry only, you may toggle off leader line display and toggle off moving the text with the object to which it is attached.
-
Type the desired text in the edit box. To create line breaks, press Enter.
-
Click OK to place the text. The text appears in the sketch at the insertion point, and the text properties display in the Properties Explorer.
