Enventive® v2.9 shipped

Lancaster, Mass., July 20, 2012 — Enventive Engineering, Inc., announces the release of Enventive® v2.9.

Enventive v2.9 is a major release that improves and expands on Enventive’s infrastructure, providing significant benefits for today’s users and laying the groundwork for future development. Major projects in this release include:

  • Redesigned user interface that increases flexibility in this release and for future releases.
  • Completely integrated, fully functional Excel application, which provides many improvements over the previous embedded (OLE) Excel application.
  • New algorithms that increase the speed and power of the Enventive Solver.
  • Individual 32-bit and 64-bit installations, which provides performance improvements on 64-bit platforms.
  • Improved logging and reporting methods that makes it easier for the Enventive support team to identify and fix bugs and crashes.

In addition to these core improvements, this release introduces many significant new and improved features based on user feedback, including:

  • Enventive Explorer redesign and new features, including independent views that can be moved and floated; ability to expand and collapse areas; and new tool default settings.
  • Math view redesign and new features, including the ability to move and float the Math view, list parameters for the currently active model or all models; ability to work with tolerances and connections within the parameter table; equation editor auto-complete; and the ability to add equation comments.
  • A major new feature, In-Place Editing , lets you edit a model instance directly from within an assembly instead of opening the master model to make modifications.
  • The user interface for running Tolerance-In-Motion (recording) is now more streamlined and has new features, including the ability to select parameters using a math group, objects in the sketch, or the parameter table; record results to the current worksheet or a new worksheet; and differentiate between derived dimensions and contributors in recording results.
  • A new Stop button lets you cancel stepping, tolerance analysis or other running processes.
  • Model instances can be loaded as a mirror of the master model, eliminating the need to create a mirrored part.
  • Ability to replace the master model for an instance in an assembly .
  • Arcs have been redesigned, allow them to flatten into a straight line or flip the sign of their curvature; for example, arcs can smoothly flip from convex to concave during stepping.
  • Cycle select has been replaced with a pick list that lets you select exactly the object you intend when multiple objects exist at a particular point in the sketch.
  • When drawing objects, the connected endpoints are now created as merged points (which connect the two endpoints as one point object), so they no longer need to be constrained with coincident points. A new Drag Apart tool lets you break apart the merged points when needed.
  • Scale settings for text/dimensions, constraints, and forces.
  • Ability to apply line styles (such as dot-dot and dot-dash) and weights (line thickness) to geometry.
  • A new right-click popup in the Sketch view lets you quickly access drawing, dimensioning, and constraining tools.
  • New and improved constraining/dimensioning features, including showing dimension names in the sketch; simultaneous placement of Fixed Point and LAA constraints; constraining to arc midpoint; switching the positive/negative sign of dimensions; and saving default tolerance settings to a file.
  • Ability to see individual degrees of freedom (DOF) that are unconstrained. This finer level of detail lets you see exactly in which directions an object can move.
  • User preference enhancements, including the ability to set defaults for dimensions and text size/units, constraint size, icon size, rendering options, and more.
  • Recently opened files now appear in the File menu for quick access.
  • New Enventive functions have been added to Excel.
  • New file handling/sharing features, including the ability to open recent model files, create PDF files and snapshots; and email assemblies.
In addition to these new and improved features, many smaller enhancements have been made throughout the Enventive user interface to make working with Enventive models easier, more intuitive, and more flexible.
