Updating instances with master model changes

Upon initially opening an assembly, model instances and their master models are in sync. When making changes to master models, be aware of the following:

Important: If master models are being used in assemblies by multiple users, be sure to notify those users whenever you make changes to the master models.

To update an individual instance with master model changes:

  1. In the Model Explorer, right-click on the instance for which you changed the master model.

  2. Select Reload from the shortcut menu.

The model instance is updated to reflect the master model, and the changes appear in the Sketch view. If there is more than one copy of the model in the assembly, all copies are updated.

To update all instances in an open assembly with changes made to all master models:

  1. Select the assembly file.

  2. Select Reload All Model Instances from the File menu.



    or

  3. Right-click on the assembly file in the Model Explorer.

  4. Select Reload All Model Instances from the shortcut menu.

All model instances that use the master model (within the current assembly file) are updated with the changes, and the changes appear in the Sketch view.
